At Southern Lighter'd we also have seasoned oak firewood available to customers in our area. Before getting into the amounts that we have available, we feel we must clear up some misconceptions about measurements of wood. The most common misconception is what constitutes a cord of wood. A full cord is a large amount of wood. It measures 4 feet high by 4 feet wide by 8 feet long (4' x 4' x 8") and has a volume of 128 cubic feet. It would take 2-4 truckloads to haul a full cord of wood.
Face cord, stove cord, furnace cord, or rick of wood are terms used to describe an amount of wood that is four feet high by eight feet long and is as wide as the individual pieces of firewood, usually about 16 inches wide. A 16 inch wide face cord is equal to one-third of a full cord.
