About Us

While all lighter'd is kindling, not all kindling is lighter'd.  Lighter'd as described in other

areas of this website is a natural firestarter due to the amount of flammable resin it

contains.   However, all pine trees contain some amount of this resin just not to the

degree that wood described as "fatwood" does.  Dry pine  kindling is often used to get a

roaring fire going as well, and used in conjunction with fatwood--well, your firewood can

be green, and it will still catch!  For more information on how to get that fire going

fast, see our Tips For Use page.  Consult Ordering Info. page for pricing  and availability.

You might notice that this picture also appears on the Fatwood page.  It's not just because it's so pretty!  This Firestarter Kit, as we like to call it, contains 12 lb.  of boxed giblet fatwood (in the picture, it is in the smaller box) and 40 lb. of hand split pine kindling (in the picture, stacked in front of the larger box that it will all be packaged in).  This kit

makes fire starting a breeze.  Just take a handful of fatwood giblets then add four or five sticks of pine kindling and finally place your firewood on top.  In no time, you have a toasty fire.  The split pine kindling comes mostly from stumps and very old fence posts that have a good resin content, so with a little help from the fatwood you get a warm fire in no time.

This is a 60 lb. box of hand-split, dry pine kindling 10"--12"in length.  There is enough kindling in here to get many, many roaring fires going.
