Southern Lighter'd                  

      Our lighter'd is 100% natural with no toxic chemicals or other additives.  It is cut

 from the stumps of heart pine that were left behind after the timber was harvested

 many, many years ago.   In the old days, settlers would use these stumps to make fence

 posts that were just about impervious to time and weather.  Some of our lighter'd

 actually comes from the remains of these posts.  The sticks of lighter'd are approximately

  6"-- 10"  in length and will  keep indefinitely; it is not affected by moisture whatsoever-

  -get some wet and it will still light. 

        There are several quantities of lighter'd available to choose from:  10 lbs.  of lighter'd

 sticks packaged  in a decorative bag  that would be great for a gift;  a 12 lb. box of

 "giblets"-- pieces of  lighter'd left after sticks  are cut; a 20 lb. box of sticks; and 40 lbs. of

 sticks (two 20 lb. boxes).  We have recently added a "fire starter kit" which includes a 12

 lb. box of giblet fatwood lighter'd and 40 lbs. of hand split pine kindling to get that fire
